In der Rhythmischen Sportgymnastik gibt es fünf Handgeräte: Seil, Reifen, Ball, Keule und Band.
Rhythmische Sportgymnastik ist vor allem durch gymnastische und tänzerische Elemente gekennzeichnet und erfordert in hohem Maß Körperbeherrschung, Gleichgewichts- und Rhythmusgefühl.
